Skin Medica Peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from photodamaged skin, fine lines, and wrinkles, pigmentary irregularities, acne-prone skin, and mild acne scarring. Skin Medica offers a range of different strength chemical peels allowing the provider to select the optimum treatment option for every client.

  • Illuminize Peel is the lightest peel, appropriate for first-time peel clients or clients with skin imperfections that are looking for brighter or more radiant skin.
  • Vitalize Peel is suitable for all skin types with mild to moderate skin imperfections. It produces predictable and noticeable results with minimal downtime.
  • Rejuvenize Peel is the deepest peel and indicated for clients with more severe skin imperfections. The Rejuvenize peel will produce the most compelling results with moderate irritation and longer downtime.

Aging of the skin is a chronic phenomenon. A single peel can reduce some of the signs of aging but once the skin has healed the aging process starts again. A daily program of home products that reduce the signs of aging is essential to maintain long term results.

Multiple treatments may be required to achieve the desired results. Illuminize peels can be repeated every 2 weeks, Vitalize peels may be repeated every 3-4 weeks, and Rejuvenize peels may be repeated every 4-6 weeks. There is no limit to the number of peels you receive as long as improvement continues. The effect is cumulative with time and enhanced with Skin Medica daily regimen products.

We do not recommend having a peel until you have stopped breastfeeding.

It takes up to 45 minutes to get a peel.

We love adding a peel to a facial. You will see even better effects in skin texture and congestion with adding it to a facial service. It will also save you some money to add it to a facial treatment.

The skin is more likely to peel quicker in the dry heat of Arizona. Moisturizing will also soothe the skin as you are healing from your peel.

Review your medication list with your provider before having your peel. Some antibiotics can make you more likely to have hyperpigmentation.

The cleansing is very relaxing. The peel may feel like a slight burning or tingling that usually only lasts a few minutes. It can last up to two hours for the stronger peels and in more sensitive areas. This will go away and can be soothed with a fan and a Skin Medica moisturizer.

You should avoid peels if you have Vitiligo. It is possible to cause an increase in the areas of depigmentation with exposure to peels. There are many other treatments that are safe. Schedule a consultation to learn more.

It is important to keep the skin protected from the sun by wearing a hat and large sunglasses along with an SPF. You may wash your face the evening of your peel with a gentle cleanser. We recommend using the Skin Medica Post Procedure kit that includes everything you will need.

The price is $100 for the Illuminize, $150 for the Vitalize, and  $200 for the Rejuvenize.

They do. All Skin Medica peels self neutralize by proteins in the skin, unlike glycolic peels that need to be neutralized to terminate their action. This makes the peel very accurate and consistent from treatment to treatment.

If favorable tolerability is seen to an initial peel, it may be performed on the neck and chest. Since the skin on the neck is more sensitive, redness may last longer when applied to these areas.

Inflammatory Rosacea is a contraindication for any Skin Medica Peel.

Sun exposure should be very limited for at least a week after the peel and SPF 30 or higher should be worn. The fresh skin is more likely to burn and leave hyperpigmentation.

You may have some redness for a few hours to a few days. Your skin may feel warm after your treatment. You will then feel skin tightness for 1-2 days after your peel. Typically on day 3 you will begin to peel. Peeling can last a few days up to one week depending on the strength of the peel used. If an Illuminize peel is used, you may not have peeling at all. Peeling can be reduced by having microdermabrasion before your peel. Microdermabrasion will remove the top dead layer of skin and decrease post-peel skin flaking and peeling.

We recommend you use the Skin Medica Post Procedure Kit (available in the spa and online at https://dejavumedspa.brilliantconnections.com/). This kit includes a gentle Facial Cleanser, a hydrating Ceramide moisturizer, and a mineral Essential Defense Sunscreen. Chemical sunscreen will cause irritation and should be avoided. Do not scrub, pick or peel the skin to avoid infection and hyperpigmentation.

You can apply makeup as soon as 2-3 days after your peel. Use the Skin Medica Ceramide moisturizer first to make your makeup apply more smoothly. We recommend only using 100% mineral makeup to avoid possible rashes and reactions.
