PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a component of your blood that contains growth factors. Growth Factors are chemical signals to your cells to make more collagen, elastin, and even hair. It is injected into the scalp to stimulate new hair growth and provide the optimal hair growth environment. This will decrease thinning, breakage, and shedding. This treatment is best for clients that have seen changes in the hair within the past 5 years.
Success Stories
I was 45 years old and my balding was starting to get bad on the top of my head. I decided to try PRP for hair loss. There was a little bit of hesitation about the possibility that it wouldn’t work but I was mostly concerned about pain. As it turns out the pain didn’t last very long after each treatment. It was definitely well worth it and I’m glad it did it! I decided to go “all-in” on the treatments since it is expensive and painful. I took the supplements as directed. I scheduled follow up appointments as recommended and there was hair growth at the 6-week mark as advertised. At about the 6-month point others could see there is obvious hair growth in the treated area. That was huge since I was feeling insecure about my hair loss! That made the entire process worth it when others could see the difference. Every time I went to their office everyone seemed to understand what I was going through and was very reassuring. It made me feel good each time I went to the office.

PRP Hair restoration uses growth factors in your own blood to stimulate your hair follicles to make hair. We draw your blood, spin it down, and remove the plasma. The plasma is then injected into the areas of the scalp that show thinning.
PRP Hair restoration can run from $2000-$3000 for a series of four treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart.
PRP hair restoration will work for clients that are ideal candidates. Check out what people are saying at Real Self.
The ideal candidate will be someone that has noticed changes in the hair pattern or thickness within the last five years. People with a history of cancer and autoimmune disease should not have PRP hair restoration.
The side effects include pain, redness, swelling, and possible infection at the injection site. These are temporary. If redness or drainage starts, please inform the office immediately.
It may feel like a bee sting in certain areas during the treatment. We do use cold therapy and pinching during the injection to minimize discomfort. You may also develop a headache the day of injection that will resolve. Oral analgesics like Tylenol or motrin may be taken to minimize discomfort
We do not need local anesthesia. We use a zimmer (a skin chilling device) to cool the skin before injections. We also pinch to decrease the poke from the needle.
PRP can regrow hair in areas where there are still active follicles. That means if you have thinning or hair recession that has occurred in five years or less, it will work. If you have hair loss that you have had for over five years, it will probably not come back. We try to outline the areas that you will see improvement and work to prevent further loss.
You want to make sure that you significantly increase your water intake the day of your treatment. Then more hydrated you are, the more plasma we will have for your treatment. You should also avoid coloring or perming your hair for 4 days before your treatment.
We recommend avoiding coloring, perming, or chemically straightening your hair for 4 days after your treatment. We also recommend that you avoid exercising the day of your treatment.
